This is the continuing saga of the Provenge debacle whereby men with terminal prostate cancer are being denied access to Provenge, a safe and effective immunotherapy. Has the Chemo Cartel tossed off this immunotherapy to the detriment of the men who are desperately seeking access in order to keep the the profits rolling in? Wow, these letters scream coercion and collusion! Its obvious that Scher’s “sleepless night” had much to do with Novacea and his wallet. He put personal gains before dying patients without remorse and with a sickening arrogance. No one with one iota of moral fiber would have sat on that panel with his multitude of blatant COIs. And with Pazdur, Maha, and others he found a coterie of power that thought they were beyond reproach. This is an utter disgrace to the American people.
I’d like to juxtapose Scher and Fleming’s sleepless night with the sleepless nights of dying men and their families. Saftey was a NON-ISSUE with a professional panel. As far as efficacy, barring Maha and Scher it was a landslide vote in favor of. It is clear that political in-fighting, greed, and arrogance abhorrently delayed Provenge, and as such it is also an attempt to derail the entire pipeline of a novel, exciting technology in Immunotherapy.
FDA needs to clean house, the corruption taints the ivory tower with the pain and suffering of those who the FDA is supposed to help. The argument that the FDA gets heat from approving potentially dangerous drygs too fast is without merit in the case of Provenge. Oh, well I guess the FDA wants to protect dying men from possible nausea, all the while filling their wallets and egos.

Whoever wrote Scher’s letter got the date of the AC wrong. They wrote the 30th of March. It was corrected to the 29th in the “leaked” letters that were published in Paul and Kirsten Goldberg’s The Cancer Letter.
He also sent an email to Jesse Goodman saying that “I noticed an error in the letter on page 4 of my letter with regard to the change in the question which I will correct in the hard copy that is being forwarded”.
In the letter he allegedly wrote he said the question was changed to “do the data show significant benefits”. Somebody must have dreamed that question up.

Could Pazdur be in the hip pockets of the BIG CHEMO CARTEL? It has been mentioned that he was behind the delay in approving Imclone’s Erbitux a none Chemo agent. Has he blocked others as well??? Makes you wonder.

Money, Greed, and Power are more important to Scher, Pazdur, and Andy von than men suffering from late PC! How do these BA$TARD$ sleep at night?

It is unfortunate that these men do not have a heart. Not only are they letting men with prostate cancer die, but they are showing them and the world that money is more important than human life.
As a Child Life Specialist I work every day to help children and teenagers cope with their diagnosis of Cancer. A devestating disease! A disease that takes the childhood away from many of these children. A disease that impacts the whole family financially and mentally. A disease that makes our children wonder why people do not want to be their friends because they look different than they did before. A disease that makes children know so much more than they should at their age becasue they know everything from a Mediport, Bone Marrow Transplant and Chemotherapy to hair loss and the names and side effects of all of their chemotherapies! A disease that has killed so many children and teenagers that deserve to live a “normal” life but Cancer took their childhood away.
I will continue to fight for my patients: my patients that have survived, continue to battle this horrific disease and for those who have lost their lives due to Cancer. They are my inspiration.
Everyone please continue fighting for this drug and the strong possibility that other drugs like this can cure not only men with Prostate Cancer but many others in the near future, including Leukemia, Lymphoma, etc.
I believe in a community that educates and advocates for our friends, family members and children so thank you to all of of you who continue to fight and know you are not alone.
